Ukraine maintains an ongoing diplomatic dialogue with Poland and is working to ease tensions in relations.
According to Ukrinform, Heorhii Tykhyi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, stated this during a television broadcast.
“We, as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and, more broadly, the President of Ukraine’s diplomatic team, maintain constant contact with our Polish colleagues. I understand that citizens—the people watching us right now—see headlines that are, to put it mildly, sensational every day, with statements being exchanged back and forth. But I can assure you that, alongside the public aspect of the issue, calm diplomatic work is underway to resolve such crises,” Tykhyi said.
According to him, we must not forget that Ukraine and Poland are allies, and today we have a common enemy—Moscow—which poses an existential threat to both the Ukrainian and Polish peoples.
“Against this backdrop, it is simply wrong for allies to have disagreements… That is why we are working to smooth out these rough edges and calm emotions. Ukraine’s position is very cautious. We are in favor of dialogue, including on complex issues of the historical past. We are not shying away from this dialogue and are ready to discuss it,” assured the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
