Prime Minister Rumen Radev

Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev rejected claims that the government plans to freeze the minimum wage until 2028, stating that no such decision has been taken and that the issue will be revisited during upcoming budget discussions. He made the remarks in response to media reports suggesting a long-term suspension of wage growth.

“The minimum wage will not be frozen,” Radev said, adding that when work on the 2027 budget begins in August within the tripartite framework, a new mechanism for determining the wage level will be discussed. “So no, it will not be frozen,” he clarified.

Radev also addressed the case involving Ukrainian citizen Oleg Nevzorov, founder of KYB Corporation, who is linked to alleged illegal construction near Varna. He said Bulgarian services had prior information about Nevzorov’s planned return and that authorities intercepted him at the border upon entry. According to Radev, Nevzorov was then taken to Sofia for questioning and later to Varna, where his testimony is still being collected.
