Volkswagen's namesake brand as well as Jetta have entered the Uzbekistan market with a lineup of vehicles produced in China, underscoring the growing role of the company's China operations as a global export hub.

The initial lineup includes China-produced VW-branded models such as the Tiguan L Pro, Passat Pro, Teramont Pro, Teramont X, Tharu XR and Lavida XR, alongside Jetta-branded models VS5 and VS7.

The Central Asian country is the first overseas market to be fully managed by Volkswagen China Passenger Cars Brand, said CEO Robert Cisek on Monday.

"Export is a key strategic goal for Volkswagen," said Cisek. "Uzbekistan represents the first step in our ambitious plan to tap into high-growth markets with products from China."
