Media personality Penuel Mlotshwa has said that women should prioritise securing their basic independence, arguing that “men cannot be trusted.”
Outspoken South African podcaster and cultural commentator Penuel Mlotshwa, popularly known as "Penuel The Black Pen", has sparked intense online debate after delivering a blunt, unfiltered reality check to women regarding financial independence.
Known for diving headfirst into controversial topics, Mlotshwa took to Facebook to unpack a subject that many find uncomfortable, but he deems absolutely vital: why women must make their own money, no matter how wealthy their partner is.
In a passionate video addressed to his daughter, sisters and women across the country, Mlotshwa urged women to abandon the fantasy of relying solely on a male provider.
While acknowledging that a man can start out as a "responsible, reliable and amazing" provider, he warned that life is inherently unpredictable.
