Nicaela De Jager, a leading female adviser in South Africa, shares her insights on overcoming gender barriers in the financial advice industry and offers guidance for aspiring women in the field.

Despite growing efforts to improve diversity within the profession, financial advice in South Africa remains a male-dominated industry.

This ongoing gender imbalance was confirmed by a review of Citywire South Africa's 2025 Top Advisers list, in which more than three-quarters of those recognised are men.

Yet a new generation of women advisers is rising through the ranks. Among them is Nicaela De Jager, the top performer in PSG's 2025/26 Adviser Development Programme (ADP), who is demonstrating that success in financial advice is not defined by gender, but by a willingness to learn, build meaningful client relationships and remain committed to continuous growth.

The ADP is PSG's 18-month training and development initiative designed to help aspiring advisers build the technical knowledge, practical experience and professional skills needed to succeed in the profession.
