The Avadi Cyber Crime Police have arrested two men in connection with an online trading fraud in which a 35-year-old resident of Vallur lost ₹85.5 lakh after investing through a fraudulent trading platform.According to the police, Marimuthu, 35, of Vallur, under the Avadi Police Commissionerate limits, lodged a complaint stating that he had joined a WhatsApp group named ‘20 TrendSet Bulls’ and was persuaded to invest through a website called ‘The Language of Candles.’ He transferred a total of ₹85.5 lakh to various bank accounts provided by the fraudsters and was subsequently cheated.Based on the complaint, the Avadi Cyber Crime Police registered a case and launched an investigation. During the probe, officers found that ₹10 lakh from the complainant had been credited to a Layer-1 bank account operated by a shell company, Glomart Agro and Garments Pvt. Ltd.Further investigation revealed that Udhayan, 37, the owner of the company, had operated the account, while Prabhakaran, 39, had arranged the bank account for the illegal trading syndicate in exchange for commission. A special team led by the Cyber Crime Inspector arrested both the accused on Monday (June 22, 2026) and remanded them to judicial custody.The investigation uncovered illegal transactions exceeding ₹57 lakh through the accused bank account. The account was also found to be linked to two previously registered cybercrime cases.Investigators further discovered that the accused had sold another bank account under the name ‘Nanam Tex’ for commission. That account has been linked to five complaints registered across India through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP).Two mobile phones allegedly used in the fraud were seized from the accused.
