A developer has filed initial plans to build a data centre on 28 hectares of Northumberland farmland that is less than two miles from the site of a large data centre campus being constructed by US giant QTS.

The new application is for a site at West Sleekburn, directly south of the River Wansbeck and north of Brock Lane, near the A189.

Developer Wansbeck Regeneration Ltd said the proposed facility would cost about £3.89 billion and would include 356,000 square metres of internal area.
