A 39-year-old man sentenced to 25 years for raping girlfriend's daughter.
The Regional Court in Kathu has sentenced 39-year-old Tebogo Christopher Sebogodi of Siyathemba to an effective 25 years’ imprisonment after he was convicted on charges of rape, creation of child pornography, and child grooming involving a minor in his care.
The conviction has been welcomed by the National Prosecuting Authority, which described the matter as a severe violation of trust and a grave crime against a vulnerable child.
NPA Regional Spokesperson Mojalefa Senokoatsane said Sebogodi was arrested after a disturbing video surfaced showing him sexually abusing the child.
"The disturbing video was discovered by the child’s aunt, who had borrowed the accused’s phone to view photographs. She immediately alerted her mother, leading to the matter being reported to the police," said Senokoatsane.
