The Airports Authority of India, Tiruchi, in association with The Hindu Group and Isha Homes (India) Private Limited has established a ‘Flybrary’ at the Tiruchi international airport, enabling travellers to pick up a book and read it during their time at the airport. The ‘Flybrary’ contains a wide range of publications from The Hindu Group including special editions and the children’s weekly tabloid magazine “Teen Digest” which have been made available for passengers.The Hindu Group’s exclusive publications comprising Coffee Table Book series, Shrine series, Youth / Career series, The Hindu Speaks On series, Prime series, Kids series, History series, Translation series and Surf and Dive magazine are available in the Flybrary.The facility located near the Domestic Security Hold area offers a dedicated reading space with a collection of books, magazines and special publications of The Hindu Group enabling passengers to utilise their waiting time productively. The ‘Flybrary’ was inaugurated by G. Gopalakrishnan, Airport Director, Tiruchi international airport in the presence of S. Ramadoss, Director - Tiruchi Region, Isha Homes (India) Private Limited, AAI officials and airport stakeholders.The initiative has been conceptualised under the guidance of the Minister of Civil Aviation and is being implemented across AAI airports to encourage passengers to rediscover the habit of reading. “The new initiative reflects AAI’s commitment towards creating a passenger-friendly airport environment and promoting knowledge-sharing and reading culture among travellers”, said Mr.Gopalakrishnan. To further enrich the ‘Flybrary’ and expand the range of reading materials available to the passengers, AAI Tiruchi Airport has welcomed sponsorships and voluntary donation of books, magazines and other reading resources from corporate organisations, institutions, publishers and individual donors.Contributions will help strengthen the facility and enhance the overall passenger experience while fostering a culture of reading and learning among travellers, officials said.The new facility is part of AAI’s continued efforts to enhance passenger experience and promote meaningful engagement within airport terminals. The AAI continues to undertake various passenger-centric initiatives aimed at improving airport infrastructure, services and amenities thereby enhancing the overall travel experience, a release from the Tiruchi airport said.
