The Tiruchi airport authorities celebrated the ‘Yatri Suvidha Divas’ on Monday by organising a series of passenger centric, health and environmental activities to reflect the airport’s commitment towards community engagement and passenger facilitation. The slew of activities were carried out by involving the airport stakeholders, educational institutions, travelling public and the health care organisations. The Tiruchi Airport Director S.S. Raju, airport staff and other stakeholders were present at the celebrations. Passengers at the international airport were welcomed with traditional tika / tilak reception as part of the celebrations. Saplings were distributed to passengers and visitors to encourage environmental awareness among them. There was a collective rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ by airport employees, Central Industrial Security Force personnel, airlines, customs, immigration and other stakeholders.Flash mob performances showcasing the vibrancy of the airport community; cultural programmes highlighting the local traditions and heritage; painting and quiz competitions for students; yoga and wellness awareness programmes for passengers and airport staff formed part of the celebrations.Airport familiarisation and career guidance sessions for college students; eye check-up and general health screening camps for passengers, staff and stakeholders; educational visit to airport for school students; tree plantation drive in airport premises to promote environmental sustainability and green airport initiatives and honouring of housekeeping personnel for their invaluable contribution towards maintaining airport cleanliness and passenger comfort were also organised.The activities were held to reflect the airport’s continued commitment towards passenger facilitation, community engagement, environmental stewardship and service excellence under the theme - Passenger First - Safe, Seamless, Comfortable and Sustainable Air Travel, a press release from the Tiruchi airport authorities said.
