Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic, said that his government entered the ongoing negotiations “with dignity and pride, without backing down,” and described the outcome of this process as creating “good openings” in trade and investment.
According to ISNA, speaking on Monday, June 22, at the National Guilds Day ceremony at the Tehran Summit Hall, Pezeshkian said the negotiation process progressed in such a way that “we signed off on all the clauses we expected,” and that the Islamic Republic “will not back down or bow down” when its rights are ignored.
Referring to the Islamic Republic’s efforts to save Hezbollah and Lebanon, Pezeshkian added: “In this process that has begun, they conceded on Lebanon because of Iran.”
Without pointing to any specific examples, he also claimed that “good openings have been created” and that “the groundwork for trade and investment” has now been laid. Pezeshkian further claimed that countries in the region now look at Iran “with a different eye” and that the Islamic Republic’s relations with neighboring countries have become “faster and better.”
In another part of his speech, while praising the role of guilds during the war, he said: “Opponents of the Islamic Republic expected public dissatisfaction to lead to street protests and the regime to fall within a few days; our guilds are rooted in the soil and water of this country and will not allow this to happen.”
