Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to make a formal offer to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United this summer. There’s one rather significant problem: Rashford apparently doesn’t want to go.
The 28-year-old England international has reportedly made clear he has no interest in a move to Spurs. He’s also shown no desire to return to Manchester United, the club that developed him from academy prospect into one of the most recognizable forwards in English football.
Barcelona’s option and the competition
Rashford spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Barcelona, and Barcelona holds a £26 million option to make the deal permanent. Whether Barcelona exercises that option is the domino that determines everything else.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Bayern Munich have all been linked to the forward. Manchester United, meanwhile, appear motivated to move Rashford on as part of ongoing efforts to trim their wage bill.
