People with asthma should take extra care during winter, as seasonal weather changes and respiratory illnesses can trigger symptoms and increase the risk of serious attacks, according to a pharmacist.
Joseph Ndou, a pharmacist at Medipost Pharmacy, said asthma is a chronic respiratory condition that causes airway inflammation and narrowing, leading to excess mucus production and difficulty breathing.
He explained that weather conditions can play a significant role in triggering asthma symptoms, with some people affected by cold, dry air, while others may react to hot, humid, windy or wet conditions.
