Seeking to capitalise on the upcoming Onam festive season, BSH Home Appliances India has introduced its new four-door side-by-side refrigerator in the Kerala market, targeting premium consumers.Speaking on the sidelines of the product launch in Kochi, Krunal Patel, Category Head – Cooling Business, (Bosch & Siemens) BSH Home Appliances India said the company is gearing up well ahead of the festive season, expecting Kerala’s refrigerator market to grow by 50 per cent in value and 100 per cent in volume during the Onam period.“Kerala contributes around 6 per cent of BSH’s overall refrigerator business, out of the estimated Indian refrigerator market size of ₹27,000 crore,” Patel said adding that consumers are increasingly opting for feature-rich refrigerators with capacities as part of upgrading to premium categories.Strong growth driven by new launchesThe company have been doubling its growth in the past five months due to the new launches like top freezers and single door refrigerators. In terms of volume, the growth was 2x in single door category in Q1. In the top freezer, the growth was more than 50 per cent growth in Q1. The cooling category registered an 18 per cent rise in volume in 2025, while the growth was flat overall for the industry.Summer demand and price adjustments support market momentumHe attributed the strong demand to extended summer and calibrated price adjustments by manufacturers. The industry is relying on the summer-led demand surge to offset a subdued fourth quarter, which was impacted by unseasonal rains and inflationary pressures, he said.On expansion plans, he said the company aims to double its market share from 4 per cent to 8 per cent by 2030. To support this growth strategy, BSH plans to add around 100 exclusive brand stores annually, building a network of 500 retail outlets by 2030.Published on June 22, 2026
