According to information obtained by IranWire, Somayeh Aghayari, a 44-year-old citizen from Semirom in Isfahan province who was arrested by the IRGC Intelligence Organization on April 23, remains in temporary detention and under severe pressure.
An informed source told IranWire that over the past 57 days, she has been allowed to contact her teenage daughter only twice. Even for these two brief phone calls, her parents had to “beg and plead with the prosecutor” to secure permission.
Somayeh Aghayari is a homemaker and the mother of a 15-year-old girl. According to an informed source, she also worked in a grocery store that she and her husband had set up together.
The source noted that at the time of her arrest, IRGC intelligence agents presented no warrant or official charges: “They just searched the entire house, turned it upside down, and left it in complete disarray. It is completely unclear what they were looking for, but they confiscated some cash, a camera, and other items from their home. Finally, they searched her phone and took her away.”
The individual also emphasized that during her last call, Ms Aghayari stated that her interrogators constantly questioned her about where she obtained the 120 million tomans in cash found in her home or who had sent it to her. This was despite her repeatedly telling them that the money had been accumulated from her earnings at their family grocery store.
