The government has reiterated that investments in data centres must not adversely affect local communities or the agricultural sector.According to government spokeswoman Rachada Dhnadirek, the data centre investment boom reflects the country's potential to become a regional digital infrastructure hub, supporting the growth of cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), e-commerce, fintech, and other digital services.

Investment in data centres goes beyond buildings or computer systems -- it represents critical infrastructure for the modern economy, she noted.

Data centres enable Thai businesses to access digital services more efficiently, reducing data processing delays and strengthening the country's long-term competitiveness.
