International Yoga Day with the theme of Yoga for healthy ageing was organised in Dharwad on Sunday.Hundreds of people, young and old, participated in the Yoga sessions organised at various places in Dharwad.Students, government officials and members of various voluntary organizations participated in the Yoga Day celebrations organized by the district administration and AYUSH Department at RN Shetty Stadium early in the morning.Deputy Commissioner R. Snehal, who inaugurated the event, said that Yoga helps people de-stress and lead a happy life with good health.“This year, the Yoga Day is being observed with the theme, Yoga for a healthy old age, and there is no age limit for practicing Yoga to live a healthy old life,” she said.Officials of AYUSH Department and members of Brahma Kumari Ishwareeya Vishwavidyalaya and others participated in the programme and performed Yogasanas.Yoga trainer Jagadish Malagi helped the participants perform some asanas. Students and teachers performed Yogasanas at the educational institutions run by KE Board, JSS, LEA, Base Mission and SDME Society and KLE Society among others.The Kayakalpa Yoga Centre in Kelgeri of Dharwad organised a Yoga session for its members.
