The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has strongly criticised the six-month tenure extension granted to the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, describing the decision as detrimental to professionalism and morale within public institutions.
In a statement issued on Saturday, June 20, 2026, Sowore expressed his opposition to the extension, arguing that it undermines established rules governing public service appointments and promotions.
“I wholeheartedly reject the six-month extension granted to the Comptroller-General of Customs after he should have retired nearly two years ago,” Sowore stated.
