Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have reportedly stormed Asaba, the Delta State capital, to screen civil servants in the state, SaharaReporters has learned.

Sources said the screening exercise, which came as a surprise to many workers, began last week at several government offices, including the pre-audit office, the Office of the Head of Service, the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), and the Deputy Governor’s Office, among others.

"We, the staff of the deputy governor's office, were screened on Wednesday. But we never knew that the officials who came to screen us were EFCC officials. They asked us to bring our relevant credentials. After the exercise, we later got to know that they were EFCC officials. We initially thought they were from the head of service office, as we were made to believe.
