One of the most high-profile international tourism promotions ever secured by Greece’s South Aegean region is currently underway in the heart of New York City, with a 24-hour video display at “The Cube” in Times Square.

Running from June 13 to July 10, the campaign showcases the islands of the South Aegean to millions of residents and visitors in one of the world’s busiest public spaces, highlighting their natural beauty, cultural heritage, and distinct identity.

The timing of the initiative is strategically aligned with peak international visibility, as New York and New Jersey host key matches of the ongoing FIFA World Cup. The global tournament is expected to attract vast audiences of fans, media representatives, and tourists, creating a strong platform for destination promotion.

In a statement, South Aegean Regional Governor Giorgos Hatzimarkos described the initiative as a milestone for regional outreach, noting the symbolic reach “from the Aegean to Times Square” and “from the Aegean to the heart of the world.”

The campaign forms part of a broader strategy by the South Aegean region to strengthen its positioning in key international tourism markets and sustain visibility amid intense global competition for travelers.
