Romanian tourism demand for Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast has shown signs of slowing, although industry representatives say there is no evidence of a major decline in visitor numbers.
Romania remains one of Bulgaria’s most important source markets, supported by geographic proximity, transport links, and a wide range of accommodation options along the coast. While interest has softened in some segments, officials and industry figures say the overall trend remains stable.
According to tourism officials, bookings from Romania are weaker compared to previous expectations, but the market continues to play a central role in the summer season. A representative working with Romanian clients in a major northern Black Sea hotel group noted that the shift is more about timing and consumer behavior than reduced demand.
“We are seeing some slowdown in bookings from Romania, but it is not a serious outflow. Fortunately, Romanian tourists remain a key market for the Bulgarian Black Sea coast,” the tourism representative said.
Industry observations point to a growing tendency among Romanian tourists to book later and to carefully compare destinations before finalizing travel plans. Despite this, expectations for the season remain positive, with Romania still showing growth compared to several other traditional foreign markets in Bulgaria.
