Bulgaria is stepping up efforts to attract more visitors from Romania, Germany, and Poland as the country looks to strengthen its tourism sector ahead of the upcoming seasons.

Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov held discussions with Bulgaria’s tourism attachés in Germany and Poland, as well as with Bulgaria’s ambassador to Romania, Radko Vlaykov, focusing on current booking trends, additional charter flights, and increasing regional competition in the tourism market.

Romania continues to rank among Bulgaria’s most important tourism markets. During the last season, the country recorded more than 985,000 tourist registrations from Romanian visitors. As part of efforts to maintain that momentum, Bulgarian authorities are preparing a new promotional campaign in Bucharest that will include tourism presentations, meetings with journalists, and cooperation with travel influencers. Officials are also considering appointing a dedicated tourism attaché in Romania.

Germany is also showing signs of recovery as a source market for Bulgarian tourism. By the end of September, a total of 255 flights are scheduled from four German airports to the Black Sea cities of Varna and Burgas, with an estimated capacity of roughly 46,000 travelers.
