The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has formally notified Andrey Sergeyev in absentia that he is suspected of helping supply weapons and military equipment to Russian armed forces units operating in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.

According to the SSU's Office in Odesa Region, the agency has collected evidence against Sergeyev, who serves as First Deputy Head of the Republic of Karelia and Prime Minister of the regional government. Investigators allege that he has been involved in financing Russia's war against Ukraine.

The investigation found that until May 2026, Sergeyev served as Minister for Municipal Development and Internal Policy of Kaliningrad Oblast. After joining the government of Karelia, he allegedly continued actively supporting Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine.

According to the SSU, Sergeyev coordinated the collection, procurement, and delivery of supplies for Russian military units and facilitated the recruitment of citizens for military service on the side of the aggressor state.
