Inter Milan have secured their head coach for the foreseeable future. Cristian Chivu has signed a contract extension keeping him at the Italian giants through June 2028, with an option to extend through 2029.
The deal comes on the heels of Chivu’s first full season in charge, a season that ended with Inter lifting the Serie A title. His annual salary jumps from roughly €2.1 million to €3 million per year.
How the deal came together
A verbal agreement was reportedly reached in early May 2026, with formal discussions following in the weeks after. Inter president Giuseppe Marotta was directly involved in the negotiations. Those formal talks culminated around early June 2026, with the official announcement following shortly after.
