The Nuclear Planning Group (NPG), NATO’s senior body for nuclear deterrence matters, met on Thursday ahead of the alliance’s ministerial summit.

Ministers reaffirmed that strategic nuclear forces remain the ultimate guarantee of Allied security, underpinning NATO’s extended deterrence framework.

In its final statement, the NPG stressed the importance of maintaining a secure, effective, and credible nuclear posture aimed at preserving peace, deterring aggression, and preventing coercion.
