The Shivar News website reports that following a raid by military and security forces on a protest gathering of residents in Pashmoki village, located in Faryab County within the Rudbarzamin region of Baluchestan, Kerman province, at least seven Baluch women were injured and six Baluch citizens, including three women, were arrested.
According to the report, the gathering took place on Wednesday, June 17, marking the second consecutive day of protests against the allocation and exploitation of the Pashmoki chromite mine. Protesters contend that the mine, considered one of the region’s vital economic resources, has been handed over to influential individuals and groups with total disregard for the rights and interests of the indigenous population, effectively depriving residents of their fair share of employment and benefits from this economic asset.
Shivar News reported that the forces at the scene used severe violence, particularly against the protesting women, beating them with batons, fists, and kicks. Released footage corroborates that a number of the female protesters faced physical violence, insults, and degradation during the raid.
According to the report, at least seven Baluch women sustained injuries as a result of the clashes, and six Baluch citizens, including three women, were detained and transferred to an undisclosed location. At the time of writing, the identities of all the injured and detained individuals, as well as their physical condition and whereabouts, remain unconfirmed.
