Springbok rugby returns this weekend as the world champions face the Barbarians, with the SA 'A' side also in action against Zimbabwe in a double-header in Gqeberha on Saturday.

Springbok rugby is back, and the 2026 international season officially gets underway this weekend with a special occasion in the Friendly City as South Africa takes on the Barbarians in a highly anticipated warm-up clash.

Setting the scene for this encounter, a host of youngsters will feature in the curtain-raiser for the SA ‘A’ side, where the next generation of Bok stars will have the opportunity to showcase their talents against Zimbabwe.

There were a handful of surprise selections for both the Springboks and SA ‘A’, and in the latest episode of The Last Word on Rugby, the panellists unpack the shock selection at flyhalf by head coach Rassie Erasmus.

But before all eyes turn to Gqeberha, the Bulls have unfinished business in Dublin. They will attempt to end their heartbreak in the United Rugby Championship (URC) when they face Leinster at Croke Park on Friday night with the title on the line.
