June 17 (UPI) -- The Vegas Golden Knights hired former AHL coach Ryan Craig to replace former coach John Tortorella, the franchise announced Wednesday.
Craig served as head coach of the Henderson Silver Knights the last three years. He also previously worked as a Golden Knights assistant, including during their 2022-23 Stanley Cup winning campaign.
He will take over a roster which went 39-26-17 and advanced to the Stanley Cup Final during the 2025-26 campaign under Tortorella.
Craig led the Silver Knights to 39 wins in 2025-26. The 44-year-old played eight NHL seasons. He spent time with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Pittsburgh Penguins and Columbus Blue Jackets.
"I want to thank John Tortorella for his time in the organization," Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon told reporters Wednesday. "What an impact he had, the energy, the enthusiasm. He saved our season. He turned our team around. Our players loved playing for him and it was a tremendous 30 games that he coached for our organization.
