Turkey on Wednesday rejected as “baseless” a European Parliament resolution that condemned Ankara over alleged violations of the sovereign rights of Greece and Cyprus and criticism linked to its “Blue Homeland” maritime doctrine.

The resolution, described as one of the European Parliament’s most critical in recent years, also raised concerns about rule of law issues and judicial independence in Turkey.

In response, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said the report was shaped by “misinformation” and a “deliberately political agenda,” arguing it reflected anti-Turkey positions within the European Parliament. It said the text undermines efforts to maintain constructive momentum in EU-Turkey relations at a time of growing geopolitical challenges.

Ankara also rejected criticism of its judiciary and Justice Ministry, insisting that the courts are independent and not subject to external influence. It said efforts to question legal proceedings for political reasons were unacceptable.

The ministry urged the European Parliament to adopt a more constructive approach to relations with Turkey and its long-stalled EU accession process.
