Gautam Goyal is the new Superintendent of Police for Virudhunagar district.A 2019-Indian Police Service officer, Mr. Gautam assumed office on Wednesday. He was hitherto serving as SP Salem District and has succeeded N. Shreenatha, who has been transferred to Chennai.Mr. Gautam had earlier served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Madurai, Salem and Tambaram.The new SP said that his focus would be to take all-out efforts to prevent crime against women and children.“Any such cases reported would be taken to its logical conclusion by following due procuedure of law,” he said. Similarly, the police would also give priorty for checking rowdyism.Stating that fireworks industry was known for frequent accidents, he said that prompt and frequent inspections would be held to prevent those accidents.Similarly, more focus would be given on petition enquiry at the police station level so that people need not to come all the way to the District Police Office to get their grievances redressed.
