Viswesh Balasubramaniam Shastri assumed office here as the 102ndSuperintendent of Police of the district on Wednesday.Speaking to reporters after assuming office, Mr. Viswesh said law and order maintenance and crime prevention would be accorded highest priority. Crime against women and the children would be crushed without impartially any mercy.Anti-social elements triggering communal unrest, smuggling and peddling narcotic substances and banned tobacco products would be weeded out, Mr. Viswesh said.
