What began as a teenager experimenting with spray paint and pharmacy dyes on old sneakers has evolved into a thriving restoration business dedicated to saving customers money and extending the life of their favourite footwear.
At 37, Westville resident Nishkar Heera, founder of Sneaker ICU, has built a reputation for restoring damaged and worn sneakers through years of self-teaching, research and hands-on experience.
“The sneaker thing started ages ago when I was a teenager. I used to spray paint my sneakers whenever they got old or damaged. I also used to dye suede sneakers with those cheap pharmacy dyes.”
As he grew older and began purchasing his own footwear, Heera realised how expensive quality sneakers had become.
