The full-size luxury SUV can drive nearly 600 miles (950 km) without stopping and can recharge in as little as five minutes. BYD launched the flagship Great Tang SUV on Tuesday after preorders exceeded 150,000, its highest so far for a single vehicle.

BYD is known for its ultra-low-cost vehicles, such as the Seagull EV, sold overseas as the Dolphin Surf and Dolphin Mini, which sell for under $10,000 in China.
That’s about to change very soon. After introducing its new Blade Battery 2.0 and Flash Charging system in March, BYD has gone on a full-scale offensive, launching new models ranging from electric supercars to flagship SUVs, equipped with the new technology.
At the Beijing Auto Show in April, BYD showcased a wide range of vehicles, including the 1,000+ hp Denza Z, the Yangwang U9 Xtreme, the third-gen Yuan Plus, and several others under its Fang Cheng Bao sub-brand.
