Babez Naidoo shares her family's cherished sardine preparation secrets and recipe

Sardines have made an appearance in KwaZulu-Natal, with netting reported at Port Edward and now at Pumula and Umzumbe.

This annual event not only marks the start of the sardine run but also celebrates a cherished culinary tradition for many South African families."

Babez Naidoo, of Isipingo, who heads a popular culinary group on Facebook, Babez Delicious Cuisine, said her family looked forward to the delicacy, which she served with different side dishes.

Naidoo learned how to clean, marinate and prepare sardines from her mother, when she was about 10 years old. She shares her family recipe (below).
