Chelsea has decided that Geovany Quenda will skip the loan carousel entirely. The Portuguese teenager will be integrated directly into the first-team squad when he arrives in London next summer, bypassing the well-worn path that has seen dozens of Chelsea signings scattered across Europe on temporary deals.
The deal and the timeline
Chelsea agreed to sign Quenda from Sporting CP in a deal confirmed on March 14, 2025. The transfer fee came in at approximately £40 million, roughly €47.5 million. He signed a seven-year contract with an option for an additional year.
The arrangement allows Quenda to remain at Sporting for the entirety of the 2025/26 season. That means he continues developing in familiar surroundings, playing competitive minutes in the Primeira Liga and European competition, before making the move to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2026.
Born on April 30, 2007, Quenda will be 19 when he arrives in west London. The club has reportedly labeled him a “priority investment.”
