Omoda & Jaecoo South Africa will expand its Jaecoo J5 range in August this year with the introduction of two new electrified derivatives, the J5 SHS hybrid and the fully electric J5 BEV.
The new additions will broaden the J5 line-up, giving South African buyers a choice of petrol, hybrid and battery-electric powertrains within the range.
The J5 SHS is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with the brand’s dedicated hybrid transmission. The system delivers 165kW and 295Nm of torque, driving the front wheels.
According to Jaecoo, the hybrid model has a claimed fuel consumption figure of 5.3 litres per 100km on the WLTC cycle, giving it a theoretical driving range of more than 900km on a single tank.
