Omoda & Jaecoo has confirmed that the Jaecoo J5 sports-utility vehicle (SUV) will be added to the assembly list at the Chery Group’s new South African plant in Pretoria.
The Chery Group acquired the former Nissan plant in Rosslyn earlier this year.
Jetour announced in April that it will start local production of the popular T-Series at the plant next year.
While Jetour, Omoda & Jaecoo and Chery are positioned as separate brands in the South African market, they all fall under the Chery Group umbrella.
Omoda & Jaecoo has also confirmed that both internal combustion engine and new-energy vehicle (NEV) J5 derivatives will roll off the assembly line in Rosslyn.
