The UAE plans a major expansion of eastern ports to reduce reliance on the Strait of Hormuz to zero.

New pipelines, rail and road networks will link ports with oil, gas and petroleum facilities to strengthen export resilience.

Foreign Trade Minister Thani Al Zeyoudi outlined a new harbour on the Gulf of Oman coastline to bolster capacity.

Significant investment will support options for consistent exports of petrochemicals, LNG and other energy products, with timelines and costs unspecified.
