The Northern Comrades Movement of Nigeria (NCMN) has expressed grave concern over the worsening security situation across the country, warning that banditry, terrorism, kidnapping and other violent crimes are pushing Nigeria deeper into crisis.
Speaking at an emergency national press conference in Kaduna State, the National Chairman of the group, Mallam Jabir Ibrahim Yaro, said the country was experiencing one of the most challenging security periods in its recent history, with citizens across several regions living in fear.
According to him, communities in Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kaduna, Niger, Benue, Plateau, Borno, Yobe, Oyo and other states have suffered devastating attacks between January and June 2026, resulting in hundreds of deaths, injuries and the displacement of thousands of residents.
Yaro noted that insecurity had become particularly severe in the North-West, where armed bandits continue to attack villages, abduct schoolchildren and travellers, impose levies on rural communities and rustle livestock.
He warned that the inability of farmers to access their farmlands was threatening food production and worsening poverty across affected areas.
