Jeremy Clarkson revealed during the final episode of Clarkson's Farm that he has cancer, and Kaleb Cooper, who has been on the show since the start, had a heartbreaking reaction10:06, 17 Jun 2026Updated 10:06, 17 Jun 2026Jeremy Clarkson reveals cancer diagnosis on his showAt the end of series five of Clarkson's Farm, Jeremy Clarkson announced he has cancer and no one appeared more devastated than his farmhand Kaleb Cooper.‌During the final episode of Clarkson's Farm's fifth series, Clarkson, 66, sat down Cooper and Charlie Ireland to tell them he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.‌He said: "I had a medical, you remember back in May? I disappeared off the other week and I had a biopsy and it is cancer and it’s aggressive, but it’s really early so the treatment will be, you know...‌“I was praying we could get the harvest done and then I could go and get some treatment but it’s going to be slap bang in the middle.”Wiping away tears, Cooper said: "Look after yourself, you go and do… if you need anything just ring.” Clarkson jokingly told him to "cheer up" and when the farm hand asked when they would know if the treatment worked, the former Top Gear star assured him that it "probably did", but they wouldn't know for another few weeks.‌Clarkson and Cooper have worked together on Clarkson's Farm since the show began in 2021, and their bond is stronger than ever. Cooper's role at Diddly Squat Farm is to be the farm hand, helping Clarkson with the day to day running of the farm. Though he does not come from a farming background, Cooper has been working on and helping out at farms since he was 13.He became a farmhand for Diddly Squat Farm when it was managed by Howard Pauling and was kept on when novice farmhand Clarkson took over.‌In 2021, Clarkson said: "We needed a tractor driver for the series and we looked everywhere. I said: 'I tell you what, you could look at the guy who’s actually doing the tractoring here now anyway'. So we got Kaleb and I think you’ll all agree he’s good on television."On the show, Cooper and Clarkson work closely together and arguments are regular, often sparked by the younger man's exasperation at Clarkson's lack of knowledge. He told The Telegraph in 2024 that viewers "probably only see about 30 per cent of arguments" between the two of them and that sometimes the camera crew "just walk off" mid fight.Article continues belowBut he added that, despite the bickering, the two are "pally", text each other everyday and often go for pints together. He later said: "We have become quite close now. He’s been a father figure to me when it comes to understanding TV. I’ve learnt from the best there is and – I can’t believe I’m saying this – when he’s not p**sing me off, there is love there."Cooper, who has become a star in his own right by releasing books, jokingly added to The Times : "He referred to me as a tractor driver.
