The Minister of Foreign Affairs in eSwatini, Pholile Shakantu, reaffirm support for Emaswati citizens in South Africa during rising tensions related to anti-immigration protests.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Kingdom of Eswatini has issued a strong advisory reaffirming its support for Emaswati living, working, studying, or travelling in the Republic of South Africa, amid growing tensions linked to anti-illegal immigration protests in parts of the country.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs in eSwatini, Pholile Shakantu, emphasised that the government remains committed to safeguarding the welfare of its citizens abroad and ensuring they have access to proper consular assistance when needed.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation wishes to remind all Emaswati living, working, studying, visiting, or travelling through the Republic of South Africa that the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini remains committed to safeguarding and promoting their welfare abroad,” Shakantu said.
Citizens were urged to stay in regular contact with official diplomatic missions, including the High Commission in Pretoria and the Consulate in Johannesburg, which the Ministry said “stand ready to assist Emaswati on a range of matters, including emergencies, documentation, welfare concerns, and other consular issues.”
