DA Federal leader Geordin Hill-Lewis urged today's youth to shape their own destiny using votes.
The Democratic Alliance has urged South Africans to honour the legacy of 1976 youth by taking charge of their future.
Speaking at the party’s Youth Day celebrations in Durban on Tuesday, the DA Federal leader, Geordin Hill-Lewis, commended the bravery and courage of 1976 youth, who without a vote and under very difficult conditions, refused to allow the government of the day to decide their future.
He urged today’s youth to emulate them and not allow the government of the day to shape their future without them.
“The youth of 2026 are more advantageous than the one of 1976 who, without a right to vote, refused to allow someone to determine what their future should look like and took to the streets. You, the youth of today need not to take to the streets but register and vote to shape your own future and that of the whole country,” said Hill-Lewis.
