The war of words between Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy over loan disbursement for Hyderabad Metro Rail project intensified on Tuesday with the central minister hitting back at the former.Taking strong exception to the Chief Minister’s criticism that he is creating hurdles for the disbursement of Rs 13,600 crore refinancing loan by Central PSU IRFC for the project, Kishan Reddy said it showed the political bankruptcy of the CM.Kishan Reddy rejects allegations, cites Centre’s supportKishan Reddy, who spoke to reporters in Delhi, said the Centre is supporting the development projects of Telangana.He cited several examples, including an NOC issued by the Centre, for a loan of Rs 4,100 crore from the Asian Development Bank for the state government’s Musi rejuvenation project in the city.Kishan Reddy said he does not any certificate from Revanth Reddy over his commitment to the state’s development.“I never spoke about IRFC. The Centre has extended cooperation to the loan process. I spoke to Khattar (Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal) and told him that the CM is making false allegations,” he said.He quoted Khattar as having said that the CM is not agreeing to certain suggestions made by the Centre.Kishan Reddy said the issue should be sorted through dialogue rather than making allegations.The Union Minister said he is ready to accompany the CM whenever he comes to speak to Khattar and others.Revanth Reddy seeks meeting with Railway MinisterMeanwhile, the CM sent a letter Tuesday night to Kishan Reddy urging him to arrange a meeting with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at the earliest.The CM said he would attend the meeting with relevant agreement and supporting documents.Revanth Reddy on Monday accused Kishan Reddy of creating hurdles for the disbursement of Rs 13,600 crore refinancing loan by the IRFC for the Hyderabad Metro Rail project.He also alleged that the union minister was acting under the influence of BRS working president K T Rama Rao.The BJP and BRS are making a conspiracy together to derail the project as it would be politically disadvantageous for the two parties if the state government completed the project, he alleged.Published on June 17, 2026
