The SAPS Search and Rescue Team have retrieved all three bodies from the Crocodile River near Kamagugu in Nelspruit.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Mpumalanga has commended emergency personnel, government departments and community volunteers involved in a nine-day search and recovery operation following a fatal vehicle accident in the Crocodile River near Kamagugu, outside Mbombela.
Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi expressed gratitude to all role players who participated in the operation after a vehicle reportedly plunged into the river on Sunday, June 7.
The search involved members of the SAPS Search and Rescue Unit, K9 Unit and Illicit Mining Team, as well as the Mbombela Municipality, Provincial Community Work Programme, Department of Health, Emergency Medical Services, church ministries, private rescue organisations and community volunteers.
Authorities launched a coordinated search and recovery operation after members of the public alerted them to the incident.
