England defender Tino Livramento is facing a race against time after suffering a thigh injury that ended his club season at Newcastle United, casting serious doubt over his participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 23-year-old full-back picked up the injury during Newcastle’s Premier League match against Bournemouth on April 18, adding yet another chapter to what has been a frustrating, injury-plagued campaign.
A season defined by setbacks
Livramento managed just 17 Premier League appearances this season. A hamstring issue kept him sidelined for roughly 55 days between January and March 2026. Multiple knee problems further disrupted his rhythm throughout the campaign.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe confirmed on May 8 that Livramento was unlikely to feature for the club again this season. Initial assessments suggested the thigh injury may not be as severe as feared, with scans expected to provide more clarity on the timeline.
