Witness Says He Was Directed To Provide Company Account

The trial of former Taraba State Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku, and a former Permanent Secretary in the state's Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Bello Yero, continued on Monday before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, with a prosecution witness alleging that local government funds were paid into his private account and disbursed on the instructions of senior government officials.

The witness, Taiwo Johns, who testified as the third prosecution witness (PW3), told Justice S.C. Oriji that funds from various local government councils in Taraba State were routinely deposited into the account of his company, P3 International, after which he received directives on how the money should be distributed.

Ishaku and Yero are being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 15-count charge bordering on alleged criminal breach of trust, conspiracy, and diversion of public funds amounting to N27 billion.
