The Fars news agency, citing a source close to the Islamic Republic’s negotiating team, claimed that significant changes were made to the text of the Iran-U.S. agreement in the final hours of negotiations, resulting in Tehran securing additional concessions.
Fars reported on Monday, June 15, 2026, that after the general framework of the agreement was approved by the Supreme National Security Council on Saturday, talks on several outstanding issues continued from Sunday morning following the arrival of the Qatari delegation.
In an interview with the IRGC-affiliated outlet, the source claimed that at one stage, the differences between the two sides appeared irreconcilable.
According to Fars, the source said that following Israel’s attack on the Dahiyeh suburb of Beirut, the Islamic Republic was preparing for large-scale attacks against Israel from multiple fronts. However, after U.S. President Donald Trump re-engaged in the negotiation process and offered additional concessions in exchange for Iran refraining from military action, the negotiating team agreed to finalize the deal.
