In honour of a father whose presence is deeply missed.
“There’s a club. The Dead Dads Club. And you can’t be in it until you’re in it. You can try to understand, you can sympathise, but until you’re in it, you don’t know. I’m really sorry you had to join the club.”
Those words were spoken by Dr Cristina Yang in “Grey’s Anatomy”. Ironically, I only came across that quote after losing my dad.
Those close to me know that joining this club has always been one of my worst fears. Long before I knew the quote existed, the thought of losing my father one day was enough to make my chest tight.
I could never imagine a life without him in it. Now it is no longer something I have to imagine. It is an unending nightmare I live with every day.
