Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) president Kalvakuntla Kavitha accused both the Congress government in Telangana and the BJP-led dispensation at the Centre of showing callous apathy towards the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) and its workforce.Ms. Kavitha embarked on her ‘Boggu Baayi Bata’ yatra in the State’s coal belt by visiting the Kasipet 1 incline mine in Mandamarri Area of Mancherial district on Monday.Later, addressing the media Ms. Kavitha alleged that those at the helm of affairs in the State and the Centre were trying to mislead people without initiating concrete steps to strengthen the SCCL and resolve the long-pending demands of its workforce.Taking a swipe at Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Union Coal Minister G. Kishan Reddy, she said, “The State government should immediately clear the pending dues from power distribution companies’ worth over ₹50,000 crore to the SCCL. The Centre should allocate the coal blocks in the Godavari valley coal fields to the SCCL.”Mr. Kishan Reddy should take initiative to ensure allocation of coal blocks to the SCCL, the pride of Telangana, and Income Tax exemption for the SCCL workers, she said.The TRS along with the HMS will stand by the workers of SCCL and amplify their voices, Ms. Kavitha said.Later, she visited the Indervelli Martyrs’ Memorial and Nagoba temple in the tribal heartland of Adilabad district.
