Visakhapatnam International Airport, operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), celebrated ‘Yatri Suvidha Diwas - 2026’ on Monday with a series of activities, aimed at enhancing passenger experience and strengthening community engagement.The day’s proceedings commenced with ‘Deep Prajwalan’ and the rendition of Vande Mataram, setting a patriotic tone.Speaking on the significance of the event, the Airport Director, N. Purushottam, said that the occasion serves as a vital platform to foster deeper connections with passengers while reaffirming the commitment to providing safe, seamless, and world-class airport services.“The overwhelming response received from passengers and stakeholders today reflects the collective commitment of the entire airport community towards service excellence and continuous improvement,” Mr. Purushottam added.The celebrations featured a special felicitation ceremony to honour frontline personnel, including housekeeping staff, drivers, and women professionals in the aviation sector, acknowledging their indispensable role in maintaining smooth operations.As part of its social responsibility outreach, the airport organised comprehensive health camps, including blood donation, general health, eye, and dental check-ups, ensuring the well-being of the airport community. Aligning with the AAI’s sustainability objectives, a tree plantation drive was also conducted to promote environmental stewardship.To enhance passenger interaction, CISF personnel presented informative skits on safety, security awareness, and responsible travel practices. The terminal also showcased the cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh through a vibrant display of local art by the Lepakshi group.Furthering its dedication to feedback-driven growth, a ‘Passenger Feedback Tree’ was installed at the terminal, providing travelers with a direct channel to offer suggestions. Currently serving nearly 30 lakh passengers annually, the airport continues to prioritise infrastructure upgrades and technological adoption to maintain its status as one of the fastest-growing airports in the country.
